In prima decada a EPL jocul a fost foarte slab dpdv tehnico-tactic. Din pacate foarte putini britanici sunt tehnici.

VARIANTA ORIGINALA IN ENGLEZA:

1. What’s the difference in football (speed, tactics, physical encounters) between now and then? Its more difficult now for players to adapt and adjust their game?
It really depends on what sort of player you are. got faster and more physical in the EPL but I am not convinced it improved technically that much, in fact for the first decade of the EPL I thought it poor technically and tactically with one or two extreme exceptions. I actually like it now because attacking sides with good technique such as Man City (silva and Aguerro), Man U ( Van Persie, Kagawa and Rooney) and Chelsea (Oscar, Mata and Hazard) are among the mos tsuccessful. Sadly very few of the great technical players are British.
2. Do You think that without Roman’s great spend galore Chelsea couldn’t survive in Premier League?
Chelsea could survive, but they could not be as successfulwithout the millions spent. Precisely the same could be said for Man Cit, United and arguably Real Madrid etc. Money gets the best players it is that simple.

3. How do You explain that after 10 years of massive investments Chelsea doesn’t have a strong heart beat like other major clubs in England (likes of United, Arsenal or even Liverpool)?

Chelsea has its own cultural history as long as the others you mention, it just doesn’t have the sustained success. This takes many yeasrs even decades to achieve. So the new culture may take some time to establish just what it is.Certainly one thing is true, the new culture is very successful.

4. Do You agree that rejuvenating a team means „let’s get rid of our legends”?
If a player is good enough he should play. If the likes of Lamps and JT are performing and are value for the money, I would want to use that experience to the full.

5. It’s easier to get attached more by the pay-check than the club?

It is difficult for me to say, the love of the game is why I played and the empathy with the fans outweighed the pay check, but loyalty has to go two ways. Most players will be got rid of as soon as they are thought less than valuable to the club, no emotion will be shown. Maybe that is why many players show a similarly mercenary attitude. I was very lucky, I played for the love of the game and had an empathy with the club, even when they sold me on to everton. Sometimes it just happens, most of the time though, it is just a job, though a very good one, for footballers.

6. Do You think that Chelsea is heading in the right direction, trying to offload the major players – and here i’m referring to Drogs, Lamps and JT?

DD, JT and Lamps cannot last forever, they must eventually be replaced so it is sensible to build around them. I personally love the fact that Oscar, Mata, hazard, Moses and Luis have beeen brought to the club. They are young, very talented, exciting and Hopefully improving. Personally I like that direction a lot, but JT and Lamps can help as they learn.

7. Do You agree that NOT being able to keep Didier Drogba at the club is a big failure for the board and the club?

It is hard to say considering I do not know how much they would have had to pay for a player who could play every week, even if he was still brilliant in the biggest games. Chelsea’s style was adapting and maybe it was thought DD was not the style they were looking for. Having said aall that, I would have liked him to stay another year,.

8. Do You agree that Fernando Torres is a player defined by form and not talent?

He has not had a good run even if his goals so far (16) isn’t bad at all. Personally I do not care who the player is and what he cost, if there is another who can do it better then he should be used. Football should be a meritocracy at all times.

9. Do You feel that buying small, less physical players could be a problem for Chelsea for the next seasons?

No. I give you Xavi, Iniesta and Messi….they did OK did they not? With the power and physique of Luiz and Lampard behn=ind them I have no worries whatsoever.

10. What do You prefer to see on the pitch: a strong identity, coherent football (defensive and offensive) for a long term or occasional gimmicks made by different circumstances that generates some trophies and a low profit?

I like to be entertained and if there is success than that is a bonus. It is quite an unusual take, but I have always seen football as an art and an entertainment as well as a competitive sport. I would however be keen to see some managerial stability. Then again all that stability over the past ten years has coincided with the most successful period in the clubs history, so you cannot knock it too much.

Why did You left Chelsea when they relegated?

Much like Frank Lampard, I was never offered a new contract. I wanted to stay but you cannot stay if you are not made an offer. The club made a large profit in selling me, they probably needed the money. Had we stayed up on that last day, I would still have been sold, in fact the deal for me to go to PSG was all but sorted out months in advance, only for Everton to come in at the last moment. SO the answer is that I didn’t leave, they never asked me to stay, but I was of course ever be=itter, I loved the club and its fans too much for that.
